PhD Candidate in Economics at Paris School of Economics (PSE)
I am a PhD candidate in Economics at the Paris School of Economics (PSE) and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. I was a visiting scholar at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago (Fall 2024).
My research focuses on development economics, at the intersection of labor and crime economics. I study how organized crime shapes local economies across Latin America, with a particular interest in the decisions young people make about schooling and work in these settings. I also work on political economy questions about state capacity and political behavior. My current projects span Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, and El Salvador, and combine quasi-experimental methods and field experiments.
I previously served as an Economic Analyst at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where I contributed to reports on social protection challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. I also worked as a Research Assistant at the World Bank Development Research Group.
